CITY OF WOM_N: STATEN ISLAND is the first installment of a five-part dance series by Catherine Galasso, inspired by Rebecca Solnit’s iconic woman-centered NYC subway map.I am deeply passionate about presenting performances that are playful, challenging, arresting, and inviting to artists and audiences of all perspectives.Creating in alternative spaces unlocks something truly magical, for both the artists with whom I work, and for the audiences who make the journey.
The project was awarded a $10K Commission from NYSCA, and $10K of In-Kind Support.

"Catherine Galasso's work invents a vocabulary of dance out of vernacular gestures and movements and possibilities, to make something that's often funny and deeply insightful about who we are in our bodies and how we move through the world."
